Sypher had already set part of his plan in motion and now was a crucial moment. Kainen the king of the dark elves was the only obstacle that was a little unsure to him. The man could not be trusted, but being a man... or demon of the same stature he knew how to deal with those types. Give Kainen what he wanted on a silver platter and he would give whatever was necessary to get his hands on the platter. Sypher was going to offer Kainen what seemed like a sure victory in the war, and yes... he would deliver the victory. Short lived as it might be the demon would let the dark elves have the land of the wood elves and perhaps let the dark elves do what they wished for a while. But Sypher's plan was to take both for himself at some point in time. He wanted what was in the vault at Mandeleth. The riches and relics of the old world that Kasteel was entrusted to protect Talismans of unspeakable power were there and in order to get to them he would have to wait and let his plan unfold.
He came upon 2 guards while heading down the final path in the darkness of the cave. Pausing for a moment as his eyes caught them he put his hand to the hilt of his blade as if he were unsure as to their intention. To his surprise they recognised him and moved aside. Sypher stepped past and walked into a large clearing. Trails and stairways had been carved into the stone and lights shined in the windows of several little huts down at the bottom of the cavern and along the walls.
“I’m going to have to ask you to follow me." a hiss of a voice came from behind him.
The voice didn’t startle him. It was hard for that to happen even when attacked or surprised which rarely happened. Sypher calmly and smoothly turned to greet none other than Taud Sechlok. Leader of the raiding squad and top Assassin of the Dark elf armies A man who was greatly known in the lands of Greystone and one who might pose a problem in a confrontation. He was a thin man standing just less than 6 foot tall. With short peppery hair that shimmered just so slightly in the darkness of the cave Sypher was surprised that he had not noticed him before hand. “So the king will see me?" Sypher’s voice had a rasp of sorts but you could feel the calm coldness of it.
"Kainen will see you. Yes." Taud shifted his head to the 2 guards who had come to see if there would be a commotion. He gestured and they moved away. Probably back to their posts. Taud glanced at Sypher again and held out his hand "I’m going to have to ask you for your weapons as well." a smirk crossed his lips "can never be too careful around a demon.
Sypher watched the guards disappear in the darkness and looked back to Taud. He paused for a moment when the dark elf asked for his weapons but reached down and gave them to him none the less... foolish dark elf he thought to himself. I don’t need my weapons to rip you apart. “I understand" was all he said as he handed the dark elf his sword and the 3 assorted knives he had tucked away.
With the weapons in hand Taud turned and motioned Sypher past him and walked behind while instructing him the directions to where the meeting would take place. Sypher was still calm and collected. Those weapons didn’t make him any more or less deadly. The one he was after however. It would make him unstoppable. Even to the weapons master Torian Greystone. Sypher would finally be able to deal with him if Kainen agreed to his terms.
The Dark elves possessed a few relics of their own and one in general that Sypher was after was the Dark Blade. It was a weapon that could only be wielded fully by a demon. For some reason the Dark elves had come into possession of it and some of their soldiers could use the weapon but every time they did their soul was consumed by it and the weapon would destroy them. A Demon on the other hand had no soul and could not be corrupted by the blade of Darkness. Sypher was betting on this. He was going to ask the dark elves for their greatest weapon and put all this against his offer. The dark elves could not wield it for periods of time. A demon with this blade could destroy the people who were getting in their way and could put an end to the war. Sypher would of course tell Kainen he would be his loyal servant, but the agreement was just temporary. He knew that Kainen would see that as well.
They walked along for what seemed like hours. Following this chamber and that through corridors and passageways that otherwise would have left Sypher lost. He was paying attention to every bit of detail in the surroundings. Making sure that if something were to go bad he would have a way out. As it looked right now he hoped things would not go bad. Escaping from this fortress of darkness underground would pose a problem. Even for him who had no problem seeing in the dark and found himself overpowering compared to others. It wouldn’t be the dark elves that would stop him. It would be the fact that he would have a hard time finding his way out while being per sued. Taud glanced over at him and noticed Sypher taking note of the surroundings
"Lost I presume?" his voice echoed a sense of laughter to it. But it faded when he received no response from Sypher.
Sypher just moved along beside him quietly. He didn’t see the point in having a conversation with a man he was going to kill in the days to come. None the less he just didn’t feel like giving Taud the satisfaction of an answer.
After a few more moments they came to a chamber with a few lit torches for a subtle hint of light. This would be where Kainen was staying. Either that or it would be a trap but that didn’t worry him. Sypher would bet his life on either and decided it was a wager he would take as he walked into the chamber. Taud seemed to slow and fall to the side motioning Sypher along.
The demon could see the figure sitting in a rather large stone chair. The dark glint of eyes fixed on him as he approached. Kainen was a larger than average dark elf. Sypher couldn’t quite make out his height from the way he was sitting but the man’s build was that of a warrior. The short black hair seemed to lay in any direction it would fall and the darker pale complexion that seemed to come about a dark elf’s figure must have been from living in the caves all their lives. The eyes as well. Kainen'ss eyes were especially piercing. It was as if even in the dark the man could cut right through a person down to their soul. There was a hint of something even darker than Sypher in those eyes.
"So...." Kainen leaned forward His voice booming and somewhat deep. Not at all like any other dark elf that Sypher had ever heard. "The schemer Sypher has come to make a deal." he said with a hint of sarcasm as if he were not all that interested in hearing the demon out.
“Quit playing your games Kainen. You would not have let me get this far if you did not think that my proposal would benefit you in any way." Sypher’s words were harsh. Almost as if he had no fear of the other man but at the same time he was careful about the words he said. Kainen could easily lose interest and then Sypher would have to fight while finding his way out of the caverns. A task he could do, but would cost precious time and effort on his part. Something he was not yet willing to give up.
"Perhaps.” The dark elf leaned back in his what appeared to be a make shift throne. “Or perhaps I want to make sure your dead for myself"
Sypher wasn’t surprised one bit by this response. He just smirked and stepped closer to Kainen. His confidence in the situation was overwhelming to some extent but he was still cautious. He wasn’t letting Kainen see that he was worried about it at all. In fact he wanted Kainen to worry about whether or not he could defend himself if Sypher were to attack him. "Oh? Does that mean there’s someone you want me to kill... or someone you had in mind to kill me?"
Kainen sighed and looked Sypher over. The whole threatening and what not bored him and he was ready to get on with what the demon had to offer. But... what did he want in exchange “So you plan on putting a man on the inside in Kasteel's palace. One so close to the king that he would never even consider doing him any harm." a small smirk crossed his face. It etched the thought of having the wood elves as his slaves and their land a new home for the dark elves. "We have tried that already... The elves of the wood have all ways been able to sniff out someone not their own. How do you plan on doing what we have not been able to do?"
Sypher's smirk seemed to grow a little he had Kainen's attention now. All he needed to do was say what was needed the right way. Without offering too much or letting Kainen know his plan. It would be better if less people knew about this. “I already have people on the inside. But all I can tell you is that I guarantee it to be a full proof plan. No mistakes. There’s just one part that will be a problem."
Kainen could already guess where this was going and decided to answer for Sypher. "The weapons master... correct?"
Sypher nodded and looked about now noticing the guards that had been hiding before. It was a bit unnerving but he remained calm none the less. “I need the means to fight Torian Greystone. I need something to match his technique with power."
There it was. At this point Kainen would know what Sypher was asking. To his surprise the dark elf seemed to null over it for a moment. "What do I get in return for the blade of our ancestors?"
Sypher’s gut jumped out of his chest when Kainen asked. it was almost as if he were teasing Sypher with the thought of having the weapon in his hands "you will have my loyalty" he spat on the words almost as if he got them out of his mouth. He knew that as soon as the task was done he would be devising a way to get rid of the dark elves and Kainen as well. It was just a matter of time.
The dark elf rubbed his chin silently for a moment and then seemed to answer with a gesture. The 2 guards near the exit of the corridor seemed to creep up closer and for a moment Sypher felt his blood boil with anticipation. The thrill of the kill was abundant and he knew that a fight was evident "your loyalty is with yourself." Kainen said as the two men drew their blades approaching the demon. “Right now all I see is a demon who likes to play games and stir up wicked plots.
Kainen however was wrong and had inadvertently underestimated Sypher. It was something Sypher had always enjoyed. Showing Kainen his strength against 2 men would be nothing. The first of the two moved in swiftly attacking head on with his short sword. The second was coming in behind to back him up with another swing. They were fast and had practiced fighting together before. Sypher however was much faster. Before the first was done with his swing the demon brought his claws to bare and stepped aside the blade. He gripped the Dark elf’s wrist and used his other hand on the elf’s elbow breaking the joint. He pulled the wrist wrapping the broken arm around his body and reached up grabbing the first of the 2 dark elves by the neck with his claws. The blade in the broken arm slid in behind Sypher and stopped the second Dark elf dead in his tracks. The tip of the blade finding the same spot that Sypher had a hold of on the second elf. Both of them fell to the ground almost instantly gasping for air with the life leaving their body.
His hand returned to normal and he turned back to Kainen with a twisted smirk. He was licking his fingers as he stepped up to the man on the throne “I come here and try diplomacy and you can’t accept my offer of joining you. Yet you send weaklings to take care of me. Next time make sure it’s a creature that can actually lay a finger on me first. Sypher was infuriated by Kainen’s attempt at trying to kill him, but at the moment he needed the dark elf king alive. Before he let his anger get the best of him he turned and walked out of the chamber
Before he made it to the exit however Kainen began to clap his hands. "Bravo demon" obviously the Dark elf was impressed with the speed and precision of his movements. "So you want the sword of darkness. A weapon that will inevitably consume your soul." the Dark elf leaned forward in his seat and his intense eyes fixed on Sypher. "Before I hand it to you I have one request. You will have to agree to it or you will not get the blade."
Not that Sypher was ever going to keep the agreement that he was about to agree to. Well... keep it any longer than it would suite him "name what you want. If I can deliver I will."
"I want Taud to go with you at all times." he leaned back in his seat "since I can’t know your plan. I want to send you some help in any way possible. “He smirked... or perhaps a spy or 2 "Taud has a small battalion of elite Dark elves that do the majority of our scouting and assassinations. The 5 of them would pose useful to you. And you’re scheming. Use them as you wish"
Sypher grumbled a bit. He did not like Taud. If he had his way he would have killed him at the gate. But many hands make lighter work. And besides he could always just kill the Dark Elf when he was ready. "The preparations will take 3 months. At that time the Queen will have her child. That all I can say."
Kainen nodded and reached behind the throne and grabbed the pitch black scabbard that held the Dark Blade. He tossed it to Sypher as quickly as possible as if he did not seem to want to hold it very long.
Sypher on the other hand felt a chill down his spine as soon as the scabbard touched the tips of his fingers. The grin that came across his teeth showed the full as he grabbed the hilt and pulled the blade free. He looked it over with amazement and for some reason he found himself lost in it. His eyes shifted to Kainen and with a broad smile he nodded “you will not be sorry.” He Knew in the back of his mind that Kainen would indeed be sorry for letting him have the blade. That at some point in time the dark elf would no longer be useful to him and his death would be eminent.
Sypher put the sword away and strapped the scabbard to his side where the old blade that Taud had taken from him had been. He turned and walked out of the chambers, but as soon as he made it to the door he was greeted by none other than Taud himself. “Shall we go?” The dark elf gestured as he moved on down the corridors that they had come in through.....
All according to plan. Sypher thought to himself as the mid day sun reached him. His eyes shifted quickly to the daylight as he looked around. As if he was looking for something. Or perhaps someone and they had strayed from where he had left them. After a moment longer the tall Elvin man stepped out from behind the tree. Taud hissed in displeasure as he noticed the Chaos elf. ....
Chaos elves were different from wood elves and Dark elves. They had no loyalty to any particular race and for some reason their bodies were more resilient to fire. It was said that the king of the wood elves himself was part chaos elf. It didn’t matter. From first look you would assume a chaos elf was the same as a wood elf. After being around them you could tell the difference however. A chaos elf was a bit stouter looking. Their cheek bones weren’t as high and they seemed to have more of a temperament than that of the woodland realm. This particular chaos elf stood over 6 feet tall and had to weight somewhere around 230 lbs. he was a rather big guy and he had a large sword strapped to his back. The blade seemed to cover the length of the chaos elf’s body. ....
Sypher just seemed to nod at him at first and then the words came out “you have your 3 months. I’ll see you then. Make sure you are one of his most trusted.” ....
The large chaos elf nodded in return not saying a word he turned and left. After that Sypher turned to Taud and grabbed him quickly by the neck “look…” he muttered whispering in the dark elf’s ear “this is my show. If you want to sit in and watch you’re more than welcome but as soon as you even think about jumping in my way or stopping me your body will lay limp in half a second”....
Taud gritted his teeth and grunted as Sypher grabbed a hold of him. He nodded and his eyes fixed on Sypher’s trying to read the demon wondering if he was going to kill him or not. Sypher held him for a second and then let him go dropping Taud to the ground. “Gather your men. We have 3 months to train them for what needs to happen.”
